As a former teacher, Sharon cares about education.  She recognizes that the future of our state depends upon the quality of education we provide for our children.

Sharon believes a quality education system:

*  Includes a disciplined and safe environment.

BUSINESS

As a businesswoman, Sharon cares about business.  She knows that economic growth is the key to enhancing our quality of life in Idaho.

Sharon believes that a thriving economy:

    Requires a balanced state budget.

*    Depends on the free enterprise system.

*    Is fueled by small businesses.

*    Benefits from rural economic development.

*    Is free from excessive government regulation.

*    Needs a tax structure that promotes taxpayer savings and investments.

*    Provides opportunities for good paying jobs.

AGRICULTURE

As the daughter of a farmer and rancher, Sharon cares about agriculture.  She realizes that agriculture sustains the economy of the Magic Valley.

Sharon believes that farming and ranching:

*    Deserve fair commodity prices.

*    Need fair trade and open foreign markets.

*    Require multiple use of public lands.

*    Prosper with value added opportunities.

*    Remain strong with the preservation and strengthening of the sustainable family farm.

FAMILIES

As a wife and mother, Sharon cares about families.  She knows that traditional family values are the foundation of our state.

Sharon believes that families:

*    Best nurture our children.

*    Have a responsibility to their members and to their community.

*    Need a safe environment free of drugs and crime with access to affordable health care.

*    Are strengthened through participation in the faith of their choice.

*    Merit the freedom to control their own destiny.

WATER AND ENERGY

As an Idahoan, Sharon cares about water and energy.  She recognizes the critical importance of water and energy to the livelihoods of the citizens of Twin Falls County.

Sharon believes in:

*    The Idaho state law of Prior Appropriation, “first in time is first in right” principle.

*    Idaho’s right to appropriate and manage water within its own borders.

*    A common sense energy policy that encourages research, development, and conservation of our energy resources.

*    Consistent reasonable energy rates.

*    Fighting any attempt at deregulation that raises Idaho’s electrical rates.
